From Meinl Sonic Energy is the Wave Drum that mimics the sound of ocean surf. Inside the drum is a filling that sounds like waves crashing when you slowly tilt it in any direction, and a sealable port lets you control the amount of filling inside. This subtle, but powerful sound evokes a strong feeling of relaxation. With two different timbres, the drum is outfitted with a pre-tuned, hand-selected goat skin head on one side for warm tones and a synthetic head on the other for a brighter tone (you can use either head to get the sound you want). The Meinl Sonic Energy Wave Drum fits a variety of settings from yoga studios, close meditation spaces or sound baths in large, wide-open rooms. It's also perfect for using at home to relax or meditate on your own. Measuring 16” in diameter, we use a lightweight, rugged and tonally rich rubber wood for the frame that's simple to grip and easy to handle while playing, then we finish the wood in our elegant walnut brown stain. Easily accessible for all skill levels, and you can experiment with finding different sounds by tapping on the heads with your fingers, hand or a soft felt mallet (mallet not included). You get a genuine sound and look with this drum, and the natural rawhide is selected for uniform thickness that guarantees an even sound and consistent, long-lasting pitch. Please note, there will be color variations on each head due to the rawhide's natural, random pattern.
