The Big River is the entry point to Hohner's Modular System (MS) line: a 10-hole diatonic with a black plastic comb, recessed brass reed plates, and concave steel covers with side vents, here in the key of A. The MS part matters if you tinker. Comb, reed plates, and covers interchange with every other MS harp (Blues Harp, Pro Harp, Meisterklasse, Cross Harp), so you can move a Big River's plates into a metal comb later, or use a Big River comb as a cheap replacement.

A solid, no-nonsense harp for blues, country, and rock. Key of A is the one to reach for when the band is in E (cross harp), which makes it the most-used key in a blues player's case.
