Dream Cymbals DMHH15 Dark Matter Hi-Hats, 15"

15" hi-hats from Dream's Dark Matter series: dark, dry, with a dirty slosh when they are half open and a crisp, low chick when they close. The top is micro-lathed by hand and re-fired; the bottom cymbal and the bell of the top are left unlathed before re-firing, which is what gives the pair its gritty, trashy edge. Fifteen inches sits lower and fatter than 14", the modern choice for rock, hip-hop, and lo-fi sounds.

Dark Matter is Dream's re-fired series: each cymbal is micro-lathed by hand, then put back in the fire, which darkens the bronze and roughens the surface. The result is dry, dark, and trashy in the good sense, with a fast decay. Hand-made, so no two are identical.
