Goodtime Blackgrass Banjo: Dark and Distinctive

The Goodtime Blackgrass Banjo is the perfect instrument for players seeking a darker aesthetic. Featuring an all-maple wood construction with a pure black stain, matte black hardware, and a black head, this banjo puts a unique twist on the traditional instrument.

Built exclusively by Deering Banjo Co. in their San Diego factory, the Blackgrass Banjo carries the familiar Goodtime vibe while incorporating some of the aesthetics from the Goodtime Artisan line. It boasts a Midnight Maple fingerboard adorned with Artisan-style pearloid inlays, ensuring both visual appeal and excellent playability. The banjo also maintains the high-quality tone and resonance of the ever-present 3-ply violin-grade maple used in Deering banjos.

Whether you're a true picker, a punk rocker, or a punk picker, the Goodtime Blackgrass Banjo offers a bit more bite in the looks department without compromising on performance or craftsmanship.

Key Features:

  • Midnight Maple Fingerboard: Exclusive fingerboard with a dark aesthetic and Artisan-style pearloid inlays.
  • All-Maple Construction: Solid maple wood construction with a pure black stain for a distinctive look.
  • Matte Black Hardware: Hardware finished in matte black for a sleek appearance.
  • 3-Ply Violin-Grade Maple: Provides optimal tone and resonance.

In addition to its unique aesthetics, the Goodtime Blackgrass Banjo showcases Deering's innovation with the development of Midnight Maple fingerboards. Here's more information on this technology:

Midnight Maple:

Deering Banjos has developed Midnight Maple fingerboards in response to concerns over the over harvesting of exotic woods commonly used for fingerboards. The Midnight Maple fingerboard is the result of over four years of research and development to produce a high-quality, ethically sustainable fingerboard that is readily available in the U.S. Unlike stained maple boards, the technology used by Deering penetrates the tight grain of the rock maple, ensuring that no raw wood shows through from string wear and that the stain does not come off on the player's hands.
