The Hammered Dulcimer

The Hammered Dulcimer is a musical instrument known for its beautiful, rich, full sound that has been enjoyed for centuries around the world, with its origins tracing back to the Middle East. The name "dulcimer" comes from the Latin word dulcis and the Greek word melos, meaning "Sweet Tune."

Body:
The bottom of the instrument is crafted from multi-layered walnut and features an opening in the back that can be used as a carrying handle. The sides are made from genuine walnut.

Soundboard:
Crafted from light-colored hardwood (species may vary), the soundboard includes one sound hole with a walnut rosette covering it. The rosette showcases an intricate vine and leaf pattern.

Nut:
There are two walnut nuts placed on each side of the instrument.

Tuning Pegs/Levers:
Includes 19 metal tuning pegs threaded into the body.

End Pegs:
Nineteen metal end pegs are located opposite the tuning pegs.

Bridge:
The walnut bridges feature color-coded saddles on top to aid in playing the instrument. For the recommended tuning, the distance from the left nut to the 1st bridge at the top should be 0.6" (16 mm) and the distance from the left nut to the 1st bridge at the bottom should be 0.98" (24.9 mm). Refer to the owner's guide for a visual representation.

Tuning:
The recommended tuning for this hammered dulcimer is the Traditional Fifth Interval. Please consult the tuning chart in the Owner's Guide.
